Another wrong to right!

So, yesterday I wrote the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And I’m trying to figure out a way to send an email to Dan Ackroyd too.

Why?

Well, I was watching a movie the other day and this song came on, it’s a real oldie but I remember it and it’s one of those tunes that when you hear it you immediately smile and it was a decent hit in it’s day.

Now, the guy who wrote the song was one of those people who was around at the inception of Rock and Roll but as is often the case he’s overlooked.

His wikipedia page reads thusly:

Huey “Piano” Smith (born January 26, 1934, New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American rhythm and blues pianist whose sound was influential in the development of rock and roll.

His piano playing incorporated the boogie styles of Pete Johnson, Meade Lux Lewis, Albert Ammons; the jazz style of Jelly Roll Morton and the piano playing of Fats Domino.Allmusic journalist, Steve Huey, also noted “At the peak of his game, Smith epitomized New Orleans R&B at its most infectious and rollicking, as showcased on his classic signature tune, “Don’t You Just Know It.”

Now the guy is 78, it seems to me they should induct him before long and if you can help or offer up suggestions on how to make it happen I’m all for it.
